Well, I missed last weeks' highlights, so I'm hitting
both weeks now. We are having such a fun year so far...
what with volcanoes and planets, it's hard not to have
a good time.
Let's see...Drew finished up his unit on the letter A
and Apples; we made this fun little craft which included
dipping his finger in paint.

In Bible we are continuing to learn the books of the OT in order and have memorized
them through Nehemiah. We are also going through specific
stories from Genesis and have covered the First Sin and Cain
and Abel. Our memory verse was Provers 13:13 - "He who
scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a
command is rewarded." Cain paid a consequence for his sin
by being unable to farm again and no longer having a place
to call home.
Here's a photo of our Sabbath Day meal that we celebrated
when we covered Day 7 of creation. God commanded his people
to also rest on the seventh day of each week. As a family,
we could definitely use some work on keeping a special day
of the week for rest. Sundays are certainly fun-filled days
for us, but they are not necessarily restful.

In math
we finished place value and moved onto measuring...thought i had
a photo of this, but can't find it now. Here's a couple of the
daily math worksheet using money to count out the number of the day.

In Science we blitzed through volcanoes and and moved onto planets. here's a picture of our erupting volcano.

As a special treat and to conclude our planet unit, i took
the kids to OMSIto watch a film in the planetarium. They were
thoroughly impressed with the rounded screen and the incredible
look of outer-space.

Whew! That's our two weeks in a nutshell...we are truly
having a ball with school right now - hope it stays that way.

Suzanne,
I enjoyed reading your highlights post. We're doing MFW K also. I'm wondering what you're doing for Math. The math page your children are doing looks great. I'm trying to supplement but I think I need something more solid. Just curious to see what you use and if you're liking it.
Thanks and have a great week.

Hi Isabel - We are doing the MFW math that came with the 1st grade curriculum. I just use it with my son too for convenience. you might try Singapore math - we used that last year. They changed their kindergarten program, but that is what MFW eventually uses (i think 2nd grade). Thanks for stopping by!
Way to go you guys! They look like they're having so much fun!
We got behind in our science when we were sick for a couple of weeks. I'm glad you're ahead of us now- I like being able to take 'sneak peaks' of what's coming up! :)
Keep up the great work mama! Love you!
